Le magazine de la voile sur internet
`La Marseillaise´ was originally a small fishing boat that was used along the French Mediterranean coast line between Les-Saintes-Marie and La Ciotat.
She was primarily used for catching lobsters, crabs and all kinds of shell fish. She was powered by a lateen sail (le `mestre´) and/or rowing oars.
`La Marseillaise´ is a direct descendent from `Bette´. Her concept has been re-adapted and modernised to today´s standards of modern small craft sailing by the English/French designer and maritime artist John Pendray, who has spent years living in Marseille.
