Sailors around the world can look forward to an action packed racing calendar next year which is built around three main genres of yacht: the Swan Maxi Series, the One Design Circuit and the Classics.

Through the years, Nautor´s Swan has stayed true to its original philosophy for producing fast, elegant and comfortable yachts that are equally at home whether blue water cruising, or competing under race conditions. By partnering with the most important Yacht Clubs in the world, Nautor´s Swan has put together its most extensive calendar of events ever, reflecting its commitment both to its sporting roots and its yachts´ superb cruising ability. In addition to the core race programme, Nautor´s Swan will continue to run its Challenge series and the ever-popular cruising events.

The 15th edition of the Rolex Swan Cup will be the focus of attention for Nautor´s Swan next year and will bring together the Maxis, the One Designs and the Classics for this incredibly popular biennial event. Once more, the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda will play host to over 110 Swan yachts, ranging in length from 36 - 112 feet, coming together from 17 countries around the world. The Swan Cup will run for a week, from Monday, 8 September to Sunday, 14 September and include a mix of different race formats, including a long race, as well as the glamorous social events for which Nautor´s Swan is famed.

Nautor´s Swan currently lists a fleet of 197 yachts over 60 foot - a number which is constantly growing - and wants to offers these owners the opportunity race in a dedicated class. Thus, the Swan Maxi Class was born out of a partnership with the Yacht Club Italiano and will incorporate the Swan 601 Class, running run from March through to October 2008.

When Leonardo Ferragamo acquired Nautor´s Swan in 1998, his vision already included the development of a One Design Class which would truly combine the stylish lines and comfort traditionally associated with Swan yachts, with racing ability in its purest form. The introduction of the Swan 45 marked the birth of One Design for Nautor and it went on to become one of the most successful Offshore One Design classes in the world.

The Swan 45 class consists of 51 yachts from nine different countries, and enjoys ISAF recognition. In 2008, the event calendar will run from March through to October, with the highlight being the World Championships, which will be contested within the Rolex Swan Cup, where Alexander Roepers and Plenty (US) will defend the title they took at the 2007 Swan European Regatta. Some of the other noteworthy events on the Swan 45 calendar include the Newport Bermuda, the Rolex Sydney Hobart - where DSK Comifin will be defending their title - and Giraglia.

The Club Swan 42 Class, which was launched just over a year ago, has enjoyed a meteoric rise. The result of a partnership with the New York Yacht Club, this One Design class which has Corinthian sailing at its core, already has 25 yachts based out of America, but is growing fast on a global scale. The Class Rules for the Club Swan 42 were conceived to promote increased competitiveness within an owner-driver and amateur-sailing framework, with a focus on containing costs, and it is these features that have lead to its rapid take-up. Club Swan 42 owners will be able to enjoy a comprehensive schedule of racing next year with calendar that runs from Acura Key West Race Week in January and culminates in Rolex Swan Cup. With the Club Swan 42s having had such a strong foundation in the States to date, including the Rolex Swan Cup, there will be four significant regattas in Europe where these one-design models can go head-to-head - please see Notes to Editors.

The build quality of Swans is second to none which means that nearly every yacht built is still on the water. Nautor Swan´s 2008 Racing Calendar makes provision for those yachts which span its 40 year history and so the 4th Sparkman & Stephens Rendez-Vous and the Turku Regatta will see many of these beautiful yachts come together to demonstrate their ability on the water.

With so many Swan owners competing in high profile regattas around the world, Nautor´s Swan has identified a select number of events where it will present its own trophy to be awarded to the best placed Swan. The Swan Challenge Series will encompass six events in the following territories: the Caribbean; the Baltic Sea; East America; North Europe; the Mediterranean and a transatlantic challenge.

As the recently announced 2008 SwanLine models demonstrate, Swan yachts are designed to offer perfect handling whether in a cruising or racing environment. For those owners for who don´t place as much importance on racing, but love the opportunity to cruise in beautiful settings and get together with like minded people, Nautor´s Swan has developed two premier events. The ClubSwan Caribbean Rendez-Vous which is held in February and hosted by the Bitter End Yacht Club in the BVIs, is now in its sixth year and continues to be extremely popular with owners. On the other side of the Atlantic, the Swan Rendez-Vous, also in its sixth year will be hosted at the Guernsey Combined Yachts Club in June 2008.
