Hanse - Hanse Yachts model revamp ahead of schedule
Following its flotation on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange earlier this year, Hanse Yachts has announced it is a full month ahead of schedule in its bid to develop new models.
For the first time, a Hanse 320 and a Hanse 350 will be added to the existing range, and the current models Hanse 370 and Hanse 400 will undergo a "facelift" to allow the entire Hanse fleet to reflect a uniform design and technology.
The 50-strong development team utilised the latest version of the construction software CATIA, and a 5-axial milling cutter enabled the new Moody 45 to be produced as a milling model, resulting in a faster and more accurate build. The launch of the Moody 45 is not planned until this autumn but the boatbuilder reports that it has already received its first orders.
Since the beginning of this year Hanse's Fjord Boats motorboats are also being produced at its facilities in Greifswald, Germany. Although production of the Fjord 40 Open was only integrated into Hanse's serial production this May, the Fjord range will be already extended with a new model this autumn.
Hanse also reports that together with Porsche Consulting its production processes have been meticulously reviewed, and in numerous workshops optimisation solutions have been developed. These have been immediately integrated into the current production, cutting running times and improving efficiency. The order books for yachts from 43ft (13m) in particular, are full to November 2007; and for the 630e model orders are currently running to April 2008. Production for yachts under 43ft (13m) is also at capacity levels to September 2007.
