| BoatCruiser 2.0, which comes with a free C-MAP MAX world region, offers a host of features including AIS, depth sounder and ARPA/MARPA compatibility as well as GPS and autopilot tracking. In addition, current MAX and NT-plus C-card owners can purchase a C-MAP card reader and use their current C-MAP charts with the new software.
"Because BoatCruiser 2.0 was developed for MAX, it incorporates all the popular MAX navigating features including Tide and Current Predictions that lets boaters view current speed/direction and predictions for future dates and times displayed with graphic coloured arrows on the display," says C-MAP. "The new Dynamic NavAids feature - which displays NavAids flashing on screen just as they would in real life - works when using both NT-plus and MAX C-cards."
Aimed at sailors, cruisers and fishermen who want a PC-based navigation system, BoatCruiser 2.0 allows C-MAP's "bird's eye" chart viewing angle to be adjusted to best suit operator preference. It also includes the ability to view MAX embedded aerial photos and/or detailed drawings of marinas while navigating. Available throughout the US and Canada in early 2006, BoatCruiser 2.0 will retail for approximately US$499.
C-MAP, which is based in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, makes electronic charts and charting systems for the recreational marine, professional fishing, commercial shipping, military and aviation markets. It has offices in 17 countries and its products are used by around 50 chartplotter and navigation software manufacturers worldwide. NavSim is a Canadian software and hardware R&D firm that specialises in electronic navigation solutions for both land and marine applications. |
