| "This transaction is yet another significant step in our continued objective of acquiring and developing vertical titles within the nautical lifestyle category," says Jose Chao, Wave's president. "We can now expand that mission with the addition of the International Yachtsman franchise and the extended reach it provides."
Wave chairman Robert Rodriguez said in the statement that given the rise in disposable income among the Baby Boomer generation, "now is the perfect time for two luxury entities such as Wave and International Yachtsman to unite."
Jack Theimer, CEO of HPJ Media Ventures Fund, said he would work "hand-in-hand" with Wave's staff in an effort to create an even better publication. "I know International Yachtsman will continue its success under the watchful eye of our new partners," he said in the statement. "It is an incredible product with a dedicated readership, and I am excited to see where this merger will take us."
Wave is distributed at national newsstands and airports, private yacht clubs and marinas, international yacht, boat and aviation shows, inside boutique hotels, condos, resorts and spas and inserted into select McClatchy newspapers throughout the US. McClatchy is a partial owner of Wave.
HPJ owns Santa Fean Magazine, Vail-Beaver Creek Magazine, Sun Valley, Aspen Sojourner magazine, Park City Magazine, Colorado Summit, Rocky Mountain Golf and Idaho Golf. |
