|  ASIA MARINE is one of Phuket longest established Yachting and Marine Tourism companies and has been pioneering Boat operation in Phang Nga Bay for the past 15 years with live aboard Junk Rigged schooners and Modern Yachts Charter operated all year round.
Initially operating out of Laem Prao on the early 90s, the company - at the time know as Thai Marine Leisure -soon opened offices in Boat Lagoon and then in Yacht Haven Marina and has developed into one of the leading Yacht Charter company, while keeping its cruise operation department.
"Yacht Charter has always been in my mind ever since I arrived in Phuket - said Vincent Tabuteau, managing Director and founder of ASIA MARINE. I was working in this field in the Mediterranean where this industry is flourishing despite a 6 months season and overcrowded marinas. I knew from the first day that Phuket area had a fantastic potential but yachts were not available in these days. So we built our first live aboard Siamese Junk and operated regular departure cruises with the Turkish gullets in mind. Some year later we started our first Bare boat operation and there has been no turning back. "
The Yacht Charter industry in Thailand has been boosted by the building of marinas in the mid 90´s and by the amendment of Import Taxes and the Navigation Regulation 2 years ago. Yachting it is now recognized as a Tourism Activity in itself. The Tourism Authority of Thailand, in collaboration with the private sector, has dedicated a special brochure for this niche market and attended to several international Boat shows, including Regional shows as Boat Asia and Boat Thai.
"Phuket is fast becoming the Riviera of South East Asia says Caroline Payen, Yacht Charter manager for ASIA MARINE, but the future of Yacht Charter in Asia goes beyond Phuket with Indonesia, Malaysia ,Philippines offering similar potential. "
The launching of several Regional Yachting Magazine is also a sign of the dynamism of this sector in Asia, " from Yangoon to Shanghai ".
