Fifteen anniversary of the Hemingway International Yacht Club of Cuba

The Hemingway International Yacht Club of Cuba is making preparation for its 15th Anniversary celebrations on the 31st of May.

Over this 15 years, the HIYC of Cuba has worked in order to rescue and develop the recreational nautical traditions in Cuba.

In celebrating its 15th Anniversary, the HIYC of Cuba has organized a program of nautical activities wich includes a lightsail regatta, a row race, a nautical ski competition, and a shore fishing tournament The HIYC of Cuba also support to the "Ernest Hemingway" Museum in order to offer a conference on Ernest Hemingway & the Sport Fishing. Also, it will sponsor the celebration of an international event on History of the Iberoamerican and Caribbean Port City, between the 3rd and 5th of October 2007. This is organized by the Institute of Cuban History, that this year will celebrate too its 45 anniversary.

Commodore Escrich and the members of HIYC of Cuba are very pleased and honoured for the friendly relations and collaboration stablished with hundreds of yacht clubs, associations, institutions and important personalities, specially from the international boating community, also, for representing various cruise associations in Havana, such as Trans-Ocean, IGFA, the Ocean Cruising Club, the Cruising Club of Switzerland, The Little Ship Club, the Austria Yacht Club, etc...

Over these 15 years, the HIYC of Cuba has been the host of numerous regattas, organized by yacht clubs of United States of America, Spain, United Kingdom, Martinique and Guadeloupe. Last April, the town of Santiago de Cuba hosted the Transcaraibes Regatta. Commodore Escrich participated in the welcoming activity, in his birthtown, to all the participants.

The HIYC of Cuba has offered valuable support in the organization of several international and national yachting events and has contribuited to the development of water sports in Cuba. Today, this institution includes a Recreative Water Sport Training Center, where its members can learn the art of sailing, water ski and recreative fishing. Moreover, it assists by providing information for the safe and happy navigation of foreign boats cruising the Cuban territorial waters.

Presently, the HIYC of Cuba has more than 1.700 members from 48 countries, who along with Commodore Escrich, once again invites you to join them this 31st. of May on the celebration fo its 15th Anniversary.
